Immortal Records: Holy Diver by DIO

Since 1983, and this album’s tracks are still being played on air, covered and hummed by every metal-head world wide. The first and the greatest masterpiece by the late Ronnie James Dio (RIP) by far till now is one of the most influential metal albums of all time. Ronnie wrote this album after completing two studio albums and a live one with Black Sabbath. You could feel the fire and rage of his soul in such tracks as ”Holy Diver” and ”Don’t talk to strangers”. Although I’m not a big fan of ”Stand up and shout” and ”Straight Through the heart”, but ”Rainbow in the dark” and ”Shame on the night” make me love the album more and more. Of Course, Vivian Campbell shined in this album as lead guitarist and skyrocketed him to worldwide fame with his awesome licks. Dio didn’t forget to import fellow band mates such as Jimmy Bain from Rainbow and Vinny Appice from Black Sabbath to complete the greatest DIO the band lineup ever. Remember when you listen to this album, to thank God that he gifted the world with Ronnie James Dio, the greatest Metal icon ever.

Ronnie James Dio, this post is for you. You still rock! God bless your soul.

Immortal Records:Hachimitsu by Spitz

OK, this is a very old album. I remember listening to ”Robinson” on Channel [V] when it was first released as a single back in 1995. Here in Kuwait, we don’t get J-Pop albums and stuff like the rest of world so when I was in the states in the mid 90s I tried locating this album, but it was hard to do so. Until one of my Japanese buddies got it for me from Japan. You can’t imagine the happy look on my face. I’ve used to sing along to ”Robinson” with my Japanese buddies in our Friday night parties! Man, those were the days! There are many good tracks to this album which I can’t remember right now..but this is a true gem. I keep playing the whole album over and over. Another album to match its uniqueness its My Little Lover’s ”Evergreen” which I’ll post about it later on. Meanwhile, try to get this album if you really love the true J-Pop/J-Rock! Spitz, Thank you for this album!

Guitara goes Trannyvania

OK, I don’t like or even never liked Guitara ever. People went crazy over them, while we were listening to the real good shit back in the states. I came back one summer and everybody goes bananas over Guitara or even Miami. I was reading some newspaper lately and I saw this image that made me go ROFL. I’ve known that Guitara consisted of two guys and two chicks as band members. But it seems that in this age, things have changed….Where are the chicks?

Fall of the Wizard

Two days ago, I was hanging out with my buddies at Marina Mall and while we were cruising, we stepped by Virgin Mega store. I went to check the latest releases of metal and hard rock music and this is what hit me. Ozzy Osbourne’s current record label released for the 2nd time his albums in a new “Remastered” format. I don’t think all of his albums are re-released, but I was still in shock. I mean who would want to remaster his albums for the 2nd time? After detailed inspection and reading customer feedback for the new remastered albums at www.cduniverse.com, I realized that Ozzy is better off dead.

This man has brought in new musicians to scrap off the musical tracks in his old albums so he could rip off the old musicians of their royalties! Can you believe such an asshole exist in this world? No true artist with pure love for his music would do cheap acts such as the mentioned above except Ozzy and his beloved witch, Sharon Osbourne. Ozzy has broken a record for not making a good album since the Ultimate Sin album (1986) and yet still claims the throne of Hard Rock! The Osbourne’s is the only family in the planet who is eager to exploit their children and expose their dysfunction as a family on TV for money. Aside from that, Ozzy hit gold when he took over Black Sabbath once and for all when he saw how the fans wanted the reunion so bad and it was timed right after the continuous decline in his concert ticket sales due to a growing loss of voice and fitness. Ozzy must have been thinking ”Ozzy Osbourne Feat. Black Sabbath” tag-line for a promo poster when he agreed to the final reunion, after almost 20 years of verbal attacks on Black Sabbath!

To Mr. Osbourne:

By featuring hot bands on Ozzfest bills to rip off fans through high prices for tickets and consumables, falsely claiming credit for Hard Rock/Metal revival, abusing Black Sabbath to prolong your ended career and dubbing your old albums to deny fellow musicians their low royalties it seems that you have driven the last nail in your coffin. Adding bonus tracks and new linear notes to these new bogus remastered albums won’t buy us off, Ozzy!

Heaven Can Wait ~10 Metal CDs to own while you’re still alive~

Trapped on a small piece of land in the middle of the ocean? Got an iPod? well, you might like to have these albums to keep your rockin’ till God-knows when your fingers would crack of drawing SOS’ on the sand. Switch on your Ipod and Heaven can wait!

  • Ozzy Osbourne’s Blizzard of Oz (1980): Out of Black Sabbath, Ozzy wanted to do something different. Tagged with Guitar hero Randy Rhoads (RIP), they made the best album recorded by Ozzy till now. I still listen to this one!!

  • Deep Purple’s In Rock (1970): The best lineup at their best time, Gillan, Glover, Lord, Paice and Blackmore rocked the world with this album. Forget Machine Head, this is Purple!

  • Iced Earth’s The Dark Saga (1996): Equipped with a new singer, tried a new format (Burnt Offerings) and placing bets on a new territory for the band: a concept album. Teaming with McFlarin, Iced Earth produced their best album ever using basic melodies and simple orchestration. The story of the band after this album became a dark saga.

  • Dream Theater’s Scenes from a memory (1999): Taking the idea from a song in their previous album (Images & Words), Dream Theater produced the most complicated and alluring concept album to be made by a progressive rock band in our current time. You have to listen to this album like more than 2 times to get it. I think I listened to it like 5 times already and I can’t stop thinking about it. I was touched by it.

  • Rainbow’s Rising (1977): Rainbow, Blackmore and Dio, the holy trinity. I’d sell my soul to see them live. In this album you’re gonna hear Cozy Powell (RIP) smashing drums like you’ve never heard him before. All rock giants agree that this is the heaviest and the best Rainbow sound to be heard and you gotta believe them, cuz when the CD starts, you’ll go crackin’!! Just listen to Stargazer and A light in the black.

  • Led Zeppelin’s first four albums (1969/1971): I think there’s no need to say anymore about Led Zeppelin because the name stands out for itself. I bought this bootlegged hits tape from Fahaheel and when I was taking my summer class in Carbondale, man, that tape was blastin’ my Jeep speakers! Dýer Maker was running all day long! Made my sweet summer memories come true!

  • Dio’s Holy Diver (1982): Till this day, this album blows our sound systems. Tagged with new face on the scene, Vivian Campbell, Dio left Sabbah in its disastrous case to pursue a successful solo career. Correction: Dio left Sabbath to write History.

  • Black Sabbath’s Heaven & Hell (1980): Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler dropped Ozzy Osbourne to move the band to a better place, and they were right about it. Recruiting Dio to write the greatest Sabbath album ever, Heaven and Hell is surely in the top ten of any hard rock album list because you just can’t ignore its power. I haven’t heard till now any album as strong and good as this one. Dio’s magic and Iommi’s riffs stole our souls.

  • Iron Maiden’s Powerslave (1984): After trying out Bruce Dickenson in Number of the beast, Iron Maiden stole the world in their best live tour and their acclaimed album, Powerslave. From 1984 till early 90s, Iron Maiden was Rock and Rock was Iron Maiden. You just can’t live without getting this!

  • Demons & Wizards’ Self titled (2000): Iced Earth and Blind Guardian teaming up to make an album? it sounded like too good to be true. But when the news hit the media, rockers went frenzy. Gaining musical awards due to its musical quality, this collaboration should have been named the dream team. You truly gotta listen to this!
